Hello Mrs. Doughtie, I'm a friend of Gavin and Jill and found your blog through Jill's.

I grew up in East Tennessee and what you've so beautifully painted here was quite a common sight. I've seen dozens of paintings of barns, but as you mention in another post, there is so much variety to the structure and setting that, while familiar, each one is unique. I think that you've done a fantastic job with this one, as well as with all of your other paintings.

Also, Gavin has pointed out to me that we share another connection: Will Rice College. He told me that you and your husband were the Will Rice Masters in the early 1990s. I was a student at Will Rice from 1999 to 2003 and absolutely loved my time there. I find it amazing that I continually run into unexpected Rice connections wherever I go.
